Wannstedt in Florida: The mystique lives on
Florida defensive back Buddy Jackson has been one of the most intriguing commits for Pitt's Class of 2007. A three-star recruit out of 6A power Cypress Bay, Jackson came to Pitt last month and ran a 4.31 in the forty, followed by a broad jump of 10 feet, 11 inches. The Pitt coaching staff wasted no time in offering the 6-1, 167-pound Jackson. Since then, Jackson has been ecstatic about becoming a Panther.
The Panthers landing such a talented player from the state of Florida is huge for the program. Hobbs adds that Dave Wannstedt and Charlie Partridge recruiting of Jackson was a huge factor.
It has not only been a factor for Jackson, but has had an affect on other players on Cypress Hill's team and other kids from the state of Florida. He added that even though most of the kids on his current team weren't even born when Wannstedt was an assistant for the Miami Hurricanes, his kids are aware of the impact Wannstedt had on the program.
