Starting off strong


Longhorn fans have been anxiously awaiting Jordan Shipley's first game, and on Monday the ballyhooed receiver took another step towards becoming a key contributor in the UT passing game.

"Every year so far I've been looking forward to (the first practice). I'm just fortunate right now to be healthy and it's always fun to come out here on the first day," Shipley said.

Let's be clear … it was the first practice, and the team wasn't even in full pads. But Shipley again made play after play, including in one-on-one drills where he is virtually uncoverable.

The quarterbacks appear to have full confidence in the Burnet speedster, and it's easy to see why. Shipley just always seems to find a way to get open in all kinds of coverage, and if the ball is in his area code he's going to catch it more often than not.

"I don't think about (the injuries) at all. That's something you think about when you're hurt and in rehab, but as soon as they clear you, the worst thing you can do is think about it," said Shipley.
