Floridian picks up first offer

East Ridge's Greg Lloyd, Jr. picked up his first offer when the UCF Golden Knights out of Conference USA extended him a scholarship offer.

East Ridge head coach Bud O'Hara said, "There are schools from all over the country making inquiries about him so it probably won't be the last one he receives."

Last fall Lloyd played defensive end and offensive tackle for the Knights. Lloyd told the Pantherlair, "This year I will be playing Mike linebacker and offensive guard. In college I would probably be a defensive end or linebacker."

Last year East Ridge finished 12-1 making it to the Florida 6A state playoffs. Coach O'Hara said, "We have a 31-game regular season winning streak going. We are going to be young this year but we hope to keep it going."

Coach O'Hara described Lloyd as both a nice young man and a gentleman.

Lloyd attended the Nike Camp at Gainesville. He has also taken an unofficial visit to Central Florida.

East Ridge won their exhibition game with South Lake 21-0 last weekend and opens their season tonight on the road with South Sumpter.

East Ridge High School which is located west of Orlando has experienced a rapid rise in enrollment and has gone from 2A to 4A to 6A in the past four years.

Last fall Greg Lloyd, Jr. was in on 78 tackles including 21 for a loss. He recorded 7 sacks and had two fumble recoveries. He was named All-Lake County on defense.
