NU Notes: Former JUCO QB's face off again
Saturday's game against Troy will be interesting in the sense that it will be a rematch of the top two quarterbacks to come out of the Jayhawk Conference over the last two seasons.
Nebraska starting quarterback Zac Taylor led El Dorado (Kan.) Butler C.C. to the 2004 Junior College National Championship game and was named a second-team JUCO All-American.
First-year Troy signal caller Omar Haugabook started for Dodge City (Kan.) C.C. in 2004 and 2005 and threw for over 5,000 yards and scored a combined 48 touchdowns over his two year career. Haugabook was named the 2005 conference player of the year last season and named a second-team JUCO All-American.
Taylor and Haugabook squared off once in 2004 and Butler won the game. In fact, Taylor threw for 288 yards and three touchdowns in the game and didn't even take a snap the entire second half.
Butler offensive coordinator Aaron Flores vaguely remembers the game, but he did say Taylor had one of his better performances of the year.
