Monroe has career night

D.J. Monroe has excelled on the track winning the Class 4A 100 meters as a sophomore with a time of 10.45. Before the track season, Monroe put together an impressive sophomore football season with 86 tackles, six forced fumbles and two interceptions, earning first team all-district. With such an impressive sophomore year, some may think it would be difficult to have a better junior year.

Monroe has answered that question five games into the 2006 football season. In the opener against Houston Westbury, he started at running back and free safety, picking off his first pass of the season. In a week two loss to El Campo, the speedster rushed for 85 yards on 13 carries.
