NU Notes: Octavien held out on Wednesday

Junior Nebraska linebacker Steve Octavien practiced on Tuesday, but on Wednesday NU head coach Bill Callahan decided to hold him out.

Octavien has been out since the USC game with a hamstring injury and Tuesday was the first day he made it back to practice.

Callahan said Octavien was held out on Wednesday to have his hamstring further checked out.

"Steve went in for an MRI this afternoon," Callahan said. "He was a little bit sore, but practiced yesterday. He was sore this morning and he came in and they took some pictures this afternoon. We'll get a little more further information as we move on.

"(Today was) more definitive than anything just to see where everything is at-he could've practice today, but we backed him down because we thought it would be an opportune time to get his MRI back."

On the flip side, sophomore linebacker Clayton Sievers continues to make a solid recovery back. Sievers, who was also out with a hamstring injury practiced for the second day in a row.
