Cream of the Crop
Two of Texas A&M's biggest recruiting coups came out of the Houston area the past two years when Rivals.com five-star tight end Martellus Bennett picked the Aggies over Texas and LSU two years ago and Klein Collins running back Mike Goodson chose A&M over USC.
And coincidentally the two shared the same breakout game last weekend in A&M's 31-21 win over Baylor as the two combined for three of A&M's four touchdowns.
Bennett's crown jewel was a 75-yard reception in the second quarter.
"They call the play and I'm at the line, I'm looking at the line, I look at the defense, I look at (Stephen McGee) and I wink at Steve and he winks back, and then he nods his head and I nod back and I knew I would be one-on-one with the safety and all I'd have to do is break one tackle and it's off to the races so I ran my little slant and broke the tackle and after that I was rolling. I was gazelling it," Bennett said.
"I was looking at the TV thing. I thought I was looking at Best Buy on the big screens. I saw them behind me for a second and when he dove I kind of triple-jumped so he wouldn't clip my feet, and I just dove in the end zone, which was pretty exciting."
