NU Notes: Carriker finishing his career strong

Earlier this year named Nebraska "Defensive End U."

Nebraska has a long standing tradition of having great defensive ends and senior Adam Carriker may go down as one of the best in school history.

The past three games Carriker has particularly stepped up his play another notch by leading NU's push up front.

Defensive coordinator Kevin Cosgrove talked about Carriker's dominance over the last three games after Thursday's practice.

"He's been playing well," Cosgrove said. "He's been doing a good job. We have high expectations of Adam and he played well the other day. He's going to have to have a big game this week."

In 2005, Carriker led the Big 12 with 9 sacks. This season, Carriker's sack numbers took a dip from where they were a year ago, but Cosgrove said his play has still been very consistent.

"Playing his last year of football here, he wants to give it his best," Cosgrove said. "He's provided us outstanding leadership and he's done a nice job."
