Plenty of early attention for top 2008 safety

College football commitments are rolling in earlier and earlier with each passing year. For proof, one need only look at the class of 2008, with three of the top 10 players in the state from that group having already made up their mind on where they'll play their college ball.

But there are always the exceptions, the throwbacks, if you will. Despite the constant pressures and attention, some players still like to take their time with the process and take several visits during the course of their senior year before making a final decision. Waco safety Victor Johnson seems to fit that mold.

The 6-foot, 170-pound blue-chip defender has picked up offers from Baylor, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State and Kansas State.
