The battle between Harris and Chiles is on
The race is on.
With the weather starting to warm up and the sun starting to become a friend to the Austin skies once again, in football terms it means that the Texas Longhorns are back on the field in preparation for another season with the start of spring drills. This time last year the big story heading into spring workouts was impending battle between young quarterbacks Colt McCoy and Jevan Snead fore the starting quarterback position.
One year later and we all know that the competition between those two was similar to one of Mike Tyson's fights when he was in his prime, as McCoy came out KO'd Snead's chances at the job before he could even blink with a series of record-setting performances.
So, as we fast-forward to this spring, it would seem that one of the last places you'd look for perhaps the most interesting position battle of the year is with the quarterbacks. After all, isn't McCoy closer to challenging for the Heisman Trophy than he is being legitimately challenged for his starting job?
Still, would it be Longhorn football without just a little bit of quarterback debate? Seriously, how can the UT fan base sleep at night with the knowledge that the position might have a safe keeper through the rest of the decade?
Where's the fun in that?
