Crist adds new offer

Notre Dame's recruiting class of 2007 included the nation's top quarterback, Jimmy Clausen. That should scare away other top signal callers for considering the Irish, right?

Wrong.

Sherman Oaks, Calif., quarterback Dayne Crist holds offers from several of the top college football programs and he's drawn interest from many more, including Notre Dame.

Notre Dame's interest in the 6-foot-5, 221-pounder intensified after the Irish had the chance to review his highlight film.

"I got a text message from coach (Brian) Polian (Sunday) night," Crist said. "I called him and he said they received my film and liked it a lot. He said that coach (Charlie) Weis wanted to know what my interest level was in Notre Dame. He just wanted to get a good gauge of how I was feeling; it was a good conversation."
