Lions offer Georgia running back

In 2006, Franklin (Ga.) Heard County sent the No. 5-rated running back in the country, Carlos Brown, north to the University of Michigan. Now, another northern school is attempting to steal his younger cousin away from the Peach State.

Dontavius Jackson, the eighth-best player in the Georgia in the class of 2008, according to the pre-spring top 25, was extended a written scholarship offer by Penn State yesterday when Nittany Lion coach Brian Norwood stopped by the school to meet with Heard County head coach Tim Barron.

Jackson has offers from Penn State, Georgia, Clemson, Alabama, Florida, Kentucky and others.

Jackson has visited numerous local schools, including Georgia, Clemson and taking in Alabama's spring game.
