Spring Spotlight: Omoregie Uzzi

UGASports.com will be on the road Monday through Friday throughout the month of May. We will be visiting school after school to see some of the top prospects in the country go through spring practice. We will run the Spring Spotlight feature daily into June showing exclusive practice video, up close photos, and notes from practice. The prospect featured today is Georgia lineman Omoregie Uzzi.

Prospect: Omoregie Uzzi

High School: Chamblee (Chamblee, Ga.)

Class: 2008

Position: Lineman (OL/DL)

Vitals: 6-4, 310-pounds

Offers: Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, Virginia and others.

Favorites: No favorites right now

The Skinny in Recruiting: It looks like it could end up being an in-state battle between the Jackets and the Dawgs. Uzzi has friends at each school and both are close to his family. Auburn is another school to keep an eye on and you can't rule out Alabama. Uzzi has yet to tip his hand at all when talking favorites, but he says he could make his mind up before his senior year begins.

UGASports.com traveled over to Chamblee during the spring to see him in action. He continues to progress as an OL and DL and he shows good mobility. Uzzi has the potential to be one of the premier linemen in Georgia this fall.

Spring Practice Observations: Linemen are not the first people you think of when using the words "versatile" or "skilled," but that is exactly how to describe Omoregie Uzzi. He has the ability to excel at multiple positions, whether is Offensive Center or Guard, or as a Defensive Tackle at the next level. He is adept at pulling as a Guard, easily getting to the second level in blocking. And once he locks on, it's over as he is very strong at the point of attack.
