Bruins land linebacker

Early in the recruiting process the Bruin coaching staff identified Donovan Carter (6-1, 225, 4.6) from Lake Balboa (Calif.) Birmingham as one of the state's best linebackers and offered him a scholie.

After Carter was offered it appeared that he would commit that weekend, but Bruin fans were disappointed.

This is a case of better late than never as Carter gave the Bruins his verbal commitment today (June 22th).

"UCLA was my top school so I decided why wait any longer," Carter said. "I like UCLA's coaches a lot. I can talk to any of the coaches at anytime.

"UCLA's campus is beautiful and it is close to home," Carter said. "Both Coach DeWayne Walker and Coach Chuck Bullough are great.
