Athletic Smith weighing offers

Will Hill has been the recruiting "thrill" in New Jersey for going on three seasons; rightfully so. The all-around athlete has an offer from Southern Cal.

Many believe, however, that defending state-champion New Brunswick's Brandon Smith may, in time, become Hill's equal on the defensive side of the ball. He plays six different positions for the Zebras, but free safety his favorite.

Rivals.com rates Smith (6-foot-3, 210) the 65th overall best prospect in America; the 8th best athlete.

"I like safety, I like to hit. I like to see the whole field. Also, I kind of like being the last line of defense. It puts pressure on me. If they get past me, it's a touchdown. Schools are recruiting me at quarterback, a lot of schools would like to play me at wide receiver. I think free safety is my natural spot," the U.S. Army All-American Bowl invitee said Monday.
