Young, talented trio ready to emerge
When looking at the 2007 Texas Tech secondary, most fans and observers have focused on the standout safety tandem of Joe Garcia and Darcel McBath, while also noting a surplus of quality depth in the form of players such as Daniel Charbonnet, Anthony Hines and up-and-comers, Steven Harris and Franklin Mitchem.
The cornerbacks, on the other hand, have been largely overlooked. Any opposing quarterbacks who does this during the upcoming season will do so at their own peril. In short, the Red Raiders are stacked with talented cornerbacks, and veterans such as Chris Parker and Marcus Bunton may not even be the best of the bunch.
Three of the more promising youngsters at the position are Jamar Wall, Pete Richardson and La'Ron Moore.
Wall, a highly-touted recruit from Plainview, is currently running with the first-team defense, and with time, could emerge as a true lock-down corner. Cornerbacks coach Brian Mitchell is already raving about the sophomore.
"I expect him to be like [Antonio] Huffman in the classroom, and like that athlete who won the high jump championship," Mitchell vows.
