The BC football team has been practicing for more than a week now with the second scrimmage on the horizon. While the offense continues to learn Steve Logan's system, there are some interesting happenings on the defensive side of the ball led by the impact of true freshman DeLeon Gause.

Gause, a 5-foot-11, 185-pound cornerback from Miami (Fla.) Central could be a guy that was missed by the Hurricanes. Gause, who committed to BC over offers from Minnesota, UConn and Bowling Green, doesn't have the kind of flat-out speed the 'Canes covet, but word out of practice is that he's a natural when it comes to instincts.
