Random thoughts on 2k7

Only 18 more days left until the start of the 2007 season.

Doesn't it seem like just yesterday that Oklahoma State was putting together a 4th quarter drive to stave off a big Alabama comeback in the Independence Bowl?

That was eight months ago. And in a little over two weeks, OSU faces off against another Southeastern Conference opponent, Georgia.

Currently, the Cowboys are in the middle of fall practice, preparing for the game against the Bulldogs and the season in general. Because of that big-time season opener between the hedges (which will appear nationally on ESPN2), head coach Mike Gundy has shut down practices to the fans and media, leaving us all out in the cold stifling heat, trying to find a football fix until the 1st of September.

And since closed practices mean all we really have to tide us over are conversations about college football, I'll use this column to give you my early thoughts on the Cowboys this season. After watching five of the team's seven open practices and attending the team's Media Day, I'll throw out some random thoughts for y'all to digest, debate, counter or ignore.

-- It's a plus.First off, the overall mood I felt from the team was energetic and positive. From what I could gather, this team seems poised and focused on the season at hand. Will that translate into more wins? I don't know, but I've always felt that anything in life can be tackled easier if you take a positive approach.
