Junior quarterback Joe Ganz continues to keep a competitive spirit in fall camp, despite the fact most people outside the program already consider senior Sam Keller Nebraska's starting quarterback.
Head coach Bill Callahan won't name a starter until the Tuesday press conference before the Nevada game, and Ganz said as he works his way through fall camp, he's feeling no pressure at all.
"Most people don't think I'm going to win the job," Ganz said following Tuesday's practice. "I'm really kind of the underdog, so I would think Sam would have more pressure than I would.
"I'm relaxed. I know everything. I know all the plays and I know the whole offense. I'm just relaxed out there trying to have fun. I've had three years to go out there and be nervous, now it's time for me to have fun and just go play football."
NU offensive coordinator Shawn Watson said following Tuesday's practice that the competition has been better than ever.
Watson said both Ganz and Keller have elevated their play over fall camp and it's just going to make the football team that much better later in the season.
"The competition has been great," Watson said. "Both Sam and Joey have competed. Every day they keep pushing each other, so each day you see their level of play go up. We've got a really good quarterback situation right now."
