Notebook: Several visitors in town for scrimmage

Arizona's Fall Camp concluded on Saturday with its annual Meet the Team scrimmage. Here are some notes from the last day of camp.

  • Perhaps the two most underappreciated or talked about players during Fall Camp were defensive backs Cam Nelson and Devin Ross.

    Both sophomores stood out during the scrimmage for different reasons. Ross showed big time ability returning kickoffs and Nelson led the team in tackles (six) and also had a 45-yard interception.

    "I really like what Cam Nelson gives us back at strong safety," Mike Stoops said after the scrimmage. "He's shown signs that he can really cover some ground back there."

  • How vanilla was Arizona's offense on Saturday? True freshman tight end Rob Gronkowski, who had been all the talk during Fall Camp, didn't see one ball thrown his way.

  • Arizona's premier player during the scrimmage was running back Chris Jennings, who ran the ball nine times for 42 yards and two touchdowns while catching nine passes for 43 yards. After the scrimmage, the senior earned praise from his coaches.
