2007 Fall Football Practice Report #9
The final fall full-scale scrimmage to prepare for the season opener against Wisconsin at Madison - has been completed. CougZone was there to keep track of the preparatory proceedings in Pullman as the magical day rapidly approaches
In the Cougars' final scrimmage of the fall football camp, there was a steady balance of offense and defense.
The opening kickoff was booted from the leg of walk-on freshman Wade Penner into the arms of Charles Dillon who took the ball to the 39-yard line. A few plays later, quarterback Alex Brink rolled out on a play action to toss a 58-yard touchdown pass across his body to Dillon, who burned past B.J. Williams.
On the next drive, quarterback Gary Rogers led out the second-team offense. However, little did Rogers know that this would be the start of a little rough patch for the redshirt junior.
On Rogers' first throw of the day, cornerback Devin Giles stepped in front of the pass and picked it off, taking it 40 yards for a touchdown.
Then on Rogers' next drive, he made a pitch that found the ground instead of Kevin McCall's arms, was subsequently sacked by Kendrick Dunn and overthrew receiver Greg Walker for the three-and-out.
