NU Notes: Bowman will play

When senior cornerback Zack Bowman returned to practice last week, NU head coach Bill Callahan would make no guarantees on how much we would see him on the field, if any this upcoming Saturday.

On Tuesday, Callahan changed his tune a little bit by saying Bowman will play in Saturday's season opener against Nevada.

"We'll just see how this week goes," Callahan said when asked about Bowman's status. "He'll play, but I couldn't give you the exact amount of repetitions. We'll just take it day-by day."

Callahan added that Bowman has made great strides in practice already in just the short time he's been back.

"He's improved considerably in terms of his progress since the time he's gotten on the field to where he's at today," Callahan said. "We'll see where he's at as we move on to game week. He's doing more and we've increased his reps. We'll see how he's holding up and how he improves and progresses will be monitored pretty closely."

Senior cornerback Cortney Grixby said on Tuesday that he doesn't know how much we could see Grixby play on Saturday.
