Notebook: How will AU use Cox and Burns?

Al Borges is not fond of a two-quarterback system. In fact, in his 30-plus years of coaching, Auburn's offensive coordinator has never rotated two quarterbacks in a game.

But circumstances this season, may be force him to change his philosophy.

"I don't like it," said Borges. "If I think that's what will help us move the ball and win games, I'll do anything. What I like and don't like is immaterial. That has to take a back seat to what's best for the team."

Senior Brandon Cox entered the season as the clear No. 1 but two straight subpar starts, forced AU to pull the redshirt off Kodi Burns and get him ready for action.

After Cox threw interceptions on AU's first two drives against MSU Saturday, Burns entered the game, eventually leading the Tigers on their only two touchdown drives. But Burns also struggled with turnovers, fumbling once and throwing an interception.
