Despite coming out with a 16-6 victory against Colorado, offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher was hot under the collar after the game. In his post-game interview with the media, Fisher categorized the offense's performance that night as "inept and ridiculous" and hinted that the staff would evaluate the personnel this week in practice.
Following Tuesday's practice, head coach Bobby Bowden echoed Fisher's earlier comments regarding the possibility of changes with certain starters and backups.
"That's kind of the approach the coaches are taking because I asked them today in a meeting if there are any personnel changes since the press will want to know," Bowden said. "Their opinion was 'not yet and let's go this week and see what happens.'"
Without reading too much into Bowden's comment, it appears as though the coaching staff is going to use this week to take a closer look at a few positions that have underachieved. While Fisher has artfully danced around the question, you have to believe that quarterback is one of the positions under the microscope.
Through the first three games, Drew Weatherford has completed 47 of 87 attempts (54%) for 600 yards (200 per game) with one interception and four touchdowns. While Weatherford's passing numbers could be worse, under his direction FSU's offense is ranked 89th out of 119 teams.
