Redshirt freshman Knowshon Moreno has been named Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday morning.
Moreno caught two passes for 22 yards and rushed for 74 yards on 17 carries in the Bulldogs' 26-23 win over Alabama in Tuscaloosa. His 3rd quarter touchdown lifted the Dawgs to a 17-10 lead.
He leads the team with 342 yards rushing and has scored two touchdowns on the season.
Sophomore cornerback Asher Allen was also honored as having an outstanding performance in Week 4 following his career best 11 tackles. Allen broke up a pass from John Parker Wilson to DJ Hall on third down in the overtime to force the Crimson Tide to kick a field goal. Georgia scored a touchdown on the next play to win the game.
Reminder: No TV for Dawgs & Rebs
This Saturday's game between Georgia and Mississippi will not be televised.
Under league contracts with television networks, a member institution of the Southeastern Conference cannot offer a pay-per-view in the same time slot as another televised game. Georgia's Sept. 15 game against Western Carolina, which was offered as pay-per-view, used up that option for both CBS and Lincoln Financial Network, which aired other SEC games in the same time slot.
The Bulldogs' only hope for another pay-per-view would be to air that game in a time slot that does not conflict with either of those two networks. In this weekend's case, that would have to be following the conclusion of the Alabama-Florida State game, which begins at 5 p.m. EST on CBS.
"The only way that we could do a pay-per-view this week is if we moved the game to night time, and we are not going to do that," said Director of Sports Communications Claude Felton.
