OSU sideline reporter gives his breakdown on the game

Each week HuskersIllustrated.com does an "ask the expert" breakdown where we get some analysis from somebody that covers Nebraska's opponent.

This week we caught up with Oklahoma State sideline reporter Robert Allen, who has been on the sidelines for the Cowboy Radio Network since 2001. Allen has been covering OSU since 1984 and his son Zach Allen is also the starting long snapper for the Cowboys, naturally nobody knows Oklahoma State football better than Robert Allen.

What's been the biggest thing that's held this Oklahoma State team back through six games?

"Two things I guess. Offensively before they got back on track, Dantrell Savage, the fact that he was hurt and he wasn't himself for the Georgia game. Once he was fully healthy and he played against Tech, that got the offense going. He's kind of the ignition switch on the offense.

"Just generally defensively, learning a new system that Tim Beckman brought in, it's one that got some intricacies to it, so I think that's been another big reason. The defense is starting to come around and it's a lot like the first year Mike (Gundy) was here with (offensive coordinator) Larry Fedora, his offense took time, it was an acquired taste. I think the defense has just been learning and I think it's been hard from them to read and react and make plays while they're learning."

Who do you expect to start at quarterback for OSU and as a guy around the team what's the biggest difference between the two?

"Zac Robinson will start. The biggest different between the two is demeanor. Zac's not as emotional and the pressure doesn't bother him. He's the same all the time. That kid is the same all the time. If you walked up to him and told him he owed you a million dollars or you walked up and told him you'd won a million dollars, I'm not saying he'd be the same reaction, but it would be a lot closer of a reaction than the majority of the world. He just handles stuff. They're both very similar physically. Bobby Reid is probably a little better thrower, Zac's actually a little faster, which probably goes against conventional wisdom. As far as demeanor, Zac is just a calm presence that doesn't get rattled."
