Preview and prediction: Tigers vs Tech

Each week, on Friday, we take things in-house. Here is the exclusive PowerMizzou.com breakdown of Saturday's showdown against Texas Tech:

When Missouri runs the ball

Well, this might just be the most interesting matchup of the game. Tony Temple is out for Missouri. Texas Tech is giving up 178 yards per game on the run, though they have been better since the defensive coordinator switch and did a nice job against Texas A&M last week. In Temple's absence, expect Jimmy Jackson to start and Derrick Washington to get his fair share of carries (and maybe more than that). In most games, the Tigers do not rely on the rushing attack to win. With Temple out, it won't be the first plan of attack, but it may be the most important. The Tigers can outscore just about anybody in a shootout, but I'm not sure they can simply run up and down the field and outscore Tech. They may be able to, but it would do them a lot of good to get the ground game going early.
