Tiger defense ready to bounce back

A week after a dominating performance at Arkansas, Auburn's defense couldn't contain a hot LSU offense that rolled up 488 total yards including 351 in a second half blitz.

"Obviously, we're not very pleased," said AU defensive coordinator Will Muschamp. "We gave up over 300 yards passing, you're never pleased with that. We lost them on a couple of nakeds for 20-plus yards, and, obviously, the one deep ball for 58 was a huge swing in the game.

"We can't afford to give up the chunk plays defensively."

LSU quarterback Matt Flynn and a talented group of receivers led by Early Doucet and Demetrius Byrd ripped AU's secondary for 319 yards and three touchdowns.

Even when AU had good coverage or the right defense called, LSU still managed to make plays. Facing a 3rd-and-9 on LSU first drive of the second half, Flynn hooked up with Doucet, who was double-covered, for a 33-yard pass.
