Defense dominates Iowa State Hot 11

Well the most that can be said of Oklahoma's 17-7 win over Iowa State on Saturday was, is exactly that; it was a win. Unlike past weeks this stock of Sooners wasn't exactly bursting at the seams as far as applicable entrants go. However, if there is one bright spot to find it was from a defense that gave up an early touchdown and shut down the Cyclones offense for the most part, and certainly kept them from scoring again. With that in mind, take a look at this week's Hot 11, and what Sooner offensive players overcame a poor overall performance to make the list?

11. Garrett Hartley, Kicker - Stats: 2-for-2 on extra points and one 43-yard field goal.
Analysis: As good as Hartley was last year it's hard to believe that it's taken eight games to find his way into the Hot 11, but for the first time all season the Sooner senior hit an important field goal. While it may not have mattered in the end, Hartley's 43-yard field goal in the last few minutes sealed the Sooners hard-fought win in Ames. It was also about as good as he has consistently been on kick-offs getting good depth. With the talk of a groin injury it would seem that this break is coming at the best possible time and perhaps the last half of Big 12 play will show the 'real' Garrett Hartley.Last Week: No. 7
