Morgan poised on the eve of his first start

Giorgio Morgan does not appear to be feeling any pressure as he approaches his debut as Kent State's starting quarterback.

"He's too young to be scared," KSU coach Doug Martin said about the 19-year-old freshman from East Pointe, Ga., who will play his initial game for the Golden Flashes on Saturday against visiting Central Michigan. "He is a very coachable young man. He is a quick learner. He's a quick study. I think he's very comfortable with the running game, and he's getting more and more comfortable with the passing game."

Asked after practice Wednesday what he anticipates will be the biggest challenge of leading a college offense for the first time, Morgan offered a confident, but not arrogant, response.

"Really nothing much," he said. "I just practiced so far this week at staying within the offense and going through my reads and going through what Coach Martin has been telling me and just staying focused. It's really not too much of a big obstacle to come across. It's just staying within the offense and doing what he tells me, and I feel I'll be all right doing that."
