Carolina offers talented junior
Beaufort (S.C.) defensive end Duane Chisolm projects to be one of the top overall prospects in the Palmetto State's class of 2009, and he recently picked up his first offer of the recruiting process.
"South Carolina just offered me," the 6-foot-4, 250-pound Chisolm said. "Virginia Tech is also coming after me hard."
Chisolm, who bench presses 350 pounds, grew up a fan of the Gamecocks.
"That's my main team right there," he said of South Carolina. "They've been my team for a long time, since I was a kid. I like their business program and the academic side of things, too."
Chisolm attended Carolina's game with S.C. State earlier in the year and enjoyed the experience.
"That was my first college game, and it was so much better than a high school game," he said. "I liked it a lot. The crowd was huge and loud, and I like how they got after it on defense. Coach (Shane) Beamer is my USC recruiter. I met him at their camp over the summer. I like him a lot."
Chisolm, who runs the 40-yard dash in 4.75 seconds, also likes what Virginia Tech has to offer.
