Cal Report Card

A note to all of the freshmen on campus who are watching Trojan football for the first time in your lives: This is not your older brother's USC offense.

The days of scoring 50 points a game are apparently over, with the new winning formula focusing on defense and the running game. It may not be entertaining, but it was good enough for the victory in Berkeley.

See how the team graded out in this week's report card.

Running Backs: A

The coaches have had more faith in Chauncey Washington than most of us in the media, and against Cal it paid off. Washington made holes where none existed, made people miss and broke tackles just about every time he touched the ball. His combination of power and speed proved to be a winning formula on the slick turf as Washington literally carried USC to victory.
