Video: Big plays early for Jackson

Things did not play out this fall the way Rivals100 running back Dontavius Jackson hoped they would. Late in the second quarter of his first game this season he broke a couple of bones in his left wrist and was ruled out for the remainder of the season. He only played a couple of quarters, he made big plays and he put up huge numbers.

Prospect: Dontavius Jackson

High School: Heard County (Franklin, Ga.)

Class: 2008

Position: Running Back

Vitals: 5-11, 195-pounds, 4.5

Offers: Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, LSU, Penn State and others.

Favorites: Committed to Georgia

The Skinny: Jackson is a powerful back that knows how to hit the hole and get down field. He can make you miss, but strength, explosiveness and finding the end zone are three of his biggest strengths. His game speed is good and he has the ability to run inside or get the edge on the outside as well. He can return kicks, catch the ball out of the backfield and he can hit on defense too, but he is a running back all the way.

He is the kind of back that can carry the ball 25-30 times a game in college and only get better as the game goes on. He has started four years in high school and is very mature for his age. Jackson is an early graduate and he will be on campus turning some heads at UGA in the spring of 2008.

We had a camera on the Heard County sideline for game one and Jackson only played close to one half before the injury occurred, but he still ran for over 240 yards and scored 3 touchdowns. He also had a nice kick off return as well.
