Q&A with Chris McGaha

In ten games this season, eight players on the No. 8 ranked ASU football team have caught touchdown passes. Shockingly, the Sun Devils' team leader in receptions, sophomore Chris McGaha is not among them. Think a season without a visit to the end zone bothers McGaha?

Think again.

The unselfish and underrated wideout, actually prides himself on making timely clutch receptions in crucial situations. We caught up with McGaha to give him some necessary ink - here's what he had to say.

Last week playing against UCLA in a tough road environment, you had a career high of nine catches for 123 yards, what do you take away from having success like that?

It felt really good. I think it was definitely a good experience, mainly because we won. It probably wouldn't have felt as good if we lost.

In the last game just like almost every other, you've proven your reliability on third downs, and over the course of the season, 80 percent of your catches go for first downs (33 of 41 receptions) - are you aware that most the time u get the ball it's moving the chains for a first down?

I didn't know about it [the statistic] until now -- I guess that's my role on the team.

Do your teammates give you a hard time about not scoring touchdowns, despite having more catches than anyone else on the team?

Yeah we joke about it. They want me to score more than I want to score it seems like. But it's all good -- they're just looking out for me.
