Dennis Franchione resigned as head coach at Texas A&M Friday after the Aggies beat No. 11 Texas, 38-30, at Kyle Field in College Station. Franchione was visibly upset after reading a prepared statement in the post-game press conference and left the room upon completion while Athletic Director Bill Byrne offered his thanks to Franchione. Coach Fran, however, becomes only the second A&M coach in the program's history to leave the job after beating the archrival Longhorns, joining Jackie Sherrill.
