UGA surprises Florida OL with an offer

The numbers are tight for Georgia in 2009, so they are only going after the best. The offers are slowly going out and they surprised one of the best offensive linemen in Florida with one recently. Nick Alajajian got some news last week from his coach that he was not expecting from one of the top schools in the country.

"The offer from Georgia was actually a big surprise," said Alajajian. "I had been getting a few normal letters from Georgia, but nothing hand written or anything, so they were not recruiting me too hard."

"Then, one of my coaches talked to Georgia and he came back to tell me that they would know within a week if they were going to offer me or not. The next day my coach talked to them again and they said they wanted to offer me a scholarship."

"I then got on the phone and talked to Coach [Stacy] Searels (OL Coach) and Coach [Willie] Martinez (Recruiting Coach for Alajajian's area). They talked to me for a second and it was cool to talk with them."

The 6-foot-4, 280-pound OL out of Naples liked what he heard from the Bulldog coaches.

"They made a good first impression," he said. "They talked to me really nice and they were very easy to talk to. It was cool to hear what they had to say and to get a feel for who they are."

Naples Head Coach Bill Kramer is actually very good friends with Georgia's defensive coordinator Willie Martinez, so even though Alajajian has not visited UGA, he has heard some things about them.

"Yeah, Coach Kramer knows Coach Martinez real well and they talk a lot he says. Coach Kramer has told me about Georgia and I have heard some really nice things about their program."
