Miami 4-star LB up to 21 offers
It is almost ten months until national signing day, but for Miami (Gulliver HS) four-star linebacker Frankie Telfort, recruiting is already going at a whirlwind pace.
Telfort, a 5-foot-11, 194 pound linebacker with 4.5 speed already has 21 offers and counting.
"Recruiting is going good, but it's a bit hectic right now," Telfort said Monday evening.
Among the 21 offers is one from Ole Miss, who offered under the previous staff and has kept the offer on the table under new head coach Houston Nutt.
"I'm open to all schools right now," Telfort said. "I need to evaluate all of them and if Ole Miss turns out to be one of the schools when I narrow my list, then that's what it'll be."
Telfort missed the first half of his junior season with a torn ligament in his thumb. He still managed 57 tackles. He's ranked as the 35th overall prospect in the class of 2009.
It's obvious the Rebels would have some stiff competition for Telfort.
His offer list includes Florida and Florida State as well as Southern California, Alabama, LSU, Notre Dame, Tennessee and West Virginia.
"I'm just seeing who's interested right now," he said. "Then I'll weigh my options and make an educated decision based on my research."
The only major school in Florida that has yet to offer is Miami, the school where Telfort's mother graduated and one he's followed due to proximity.
"I grew up a fan of Miami, but my mother has become a makeshift Florida fan," Telfort said.
Schools that have not offered Telfort that he'd like to hear from include Michigan and Ohio State.
"Education and tradition are the two biggest things that will impact my decision," he said.
For now, Telfort things his decision will be made on signing day, although with all the offers, he'll probably trim his list of favorites down later in the summer.
He has no plans for camping at schools on an individual basis, but will participate with his high school team in 7-on-7 competition, something that his team won in Tampa last year and had the opportunity to compete further in California.
Among his teammates is Frank Crawford, a defensive back, who also recently received an Ole Miss offer.
Telfort has a 3.3 GPA and will take the SAT for the first time in June.
