Ole Miss offers Texas 4-star RB

Ole Miss signed San Antonio running back Devin Thomas last fall, a U.S. Army All-American selection, and the Rebels are back in Texas for the 2009 signing class eyeing yet another Texas star.

Ole Miss offered four-star Navasota (Navasota HS), Texas running back Dexter Pratt about a month ago and the fact that Houston Nutt is now coaching the Rebels is not lost on Pratt.

"I know the coaching staff," Pratt said on Monday. "Houston Nutt did a pretty good job with Darren McFadden."

McFadden, the all-star running back under Nutt the last three years at Arkansas, is projected as a high first round draft choice for the upcoming NFL draft next month.

Pratt, 6-foot-2, 220 pounds with 4.48 speed in the forty-yard dash, picked up an amazing 2,054 yards last fall as a junior on just 205 rushing attempts. He also had 12 catches for 365 yards and four scores

His performance has already earned him a four-star rating by and a host of offers.

"A lot of schools are offering," Pratt said. Just about everybody is offering."

His official offer list includes LSU, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, Arkansas, and Texas A&M in addition to Ole Miss.

Pratt says he's wide open right now and has only attended junior day at Texas.

He's not planning any additional junior day visits and the only summer camps he plans to attend are some 7-on-7 passing camps with his high school team.

"I do plan on taking a lot of visits later on," he said.

He said that could also include a trip to Ole Miss, but emphasizes it's too early for him to finalize any specific plans just yet.

When it comes to a school, the most important thing to Pratt is academics and the school's graduation rates, as well as a depth chart that looks promising for playing time.

Pratt has a 2.8 GPA.
