Florida prospect lands first offer

While Florida native Alex Williams is still a relative newcomer to the game of football, there is little doubt that he has a chance to be a major college prospect. This week, the 6-foot-5, 210-pound Williams, who played organized football for the first time in 2007, picked up his first scholarship offer from the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Primarily known as a basketball player before this past year, Williams was talked into giving football a try by his high school coach, Ira Reynolds. All the rangy athlete did in his first season on the gridiron is rack up 19 sacks as a defensive end, earning first team all-state honors and plenty of college interest along the way.

Currently, the junior is hearing from not only Iowa, but Memphis, Florida, Auburn, Purdue, Georgia, South Carolina, and many others.
