Brazinski talks about BC trip

Mark Brazinski went up to Boston College a day before the spring game to see what campus life was like. He enjoyed his experience, whether it was walking around Chestnut Hill or sitting in on a calculus class.

"It was cool," Brazinski said. "I was able to follow some of the problems. I was able to work along with them."

Brazinski, a 6-foot-3, 292-pound center from Somerville (N.J.) Immaculata, is clearly an intelligent kid. He's also a talented football player who boasts offers from the Eagles, Rutgers and Florida State. He said the Seminoles offer was a surprise since he's never worked out in Tallahassee.

"I'm still trying to figure that one out," he said. "I've never been within 100 miles of Tallahassee. They viewed my tape and offered from there. Every other offer I have I went to their camp. I was very surprised."

Many more schools are showing interest in Brazinski, who was included in the Hot 11 from the Premier Showcase in New Jersey in February. On his database page, Brazinski lists interest from Colorado, Florida, Penn State, Syracuse, Vanderbilt, Virginia and Wake Forest.

The Immaculata standout is expected to work out at the State College Nike Camp this weekend. He said his meetings with offensive line coach Jack Bicknell and head coach Jeff Jagodzinski at Boston College went well.

"I got to talk with coach Bicknell for a good amount of time," Brazinski said. "He told me where I'd fit in and that was an interesting thing. He showed us some tape and I had a good meeting with coach Jags. He went over his philosophies. Those meetings were very insightful."

Brazinski said he's not sure how many more offers he's going to pull in but if he sticks with his timetable, schools are going to have to hurry to get involved with the offensive lineman. He said he'd like to have his decision made in June so he can focus on winning a state championship.

That goal might not be too lofty.

Brazinski will be opening holes for one of the state's best running backs in Theo Riddick, a four-star prospect in the Rivals 250 who has committed to Notre Dame. Riddick has rushed for 36 touchdowns in the last two seasons. Another Immaculata prospect to watch is offensive tackle Cody Bohler, a 6-foot-7, 275-pound recruit who has received Division I-A interest.
