Younger McCoy hopes to blaze his own path
Though only having just completed his sophomore year in high school, there is a quarterback prospect in West Texas whose name has been on the recruiting radar for quite some time. Case McCoy is the younger brother of current University of Texas starting quarterback Colt McCoy.
While many would assume that the 6-foot-2, 169-pound passer will follow in his brother's footsteps, he says that is not necessarily the case. While it is nice to be recognized, like any younger brother, McCoy would like to leave his own distinct legacy.
"It's helped having him as my brother because I know I'm kind of ahead of the game because my name is already out there," said McCoy, "but [Colt] also realizes that I am my own person. Yeah, I'm comfortable with Texas because I've been in the stands every Saturday for two years but he realizes that, in a way, I want to make my own name.
"I'm not saying I'm on this level or anything but Eli (Manning) didn't follow Peyton. He could have gone to Tennessee if he wanted."
