AuburnSports.com's Forecast: The Offense

With preseason practice set to kickoff in just a couple of days, AuburnSports.com takes you inside two-a-days with an in-depth look at what to expect on offense. Check below as we choose the winner of the quarterback battle and pick a MVP, breakout performer, freshman to watch and much more.

Biggest battle: QB

Bryan's pick: Chris Todd
This was a tough one and ultimately I think both will share the snaps as long as they stay healthy. I picked Todd because even at "60 percent" in the spring, he was able to hang with Burns in the competition and I expect he'll be much better this fall. His knowledge of the offense, decision making and accurate passing is also a big plus.

Jeffrey's pick: Kodi Burns
Although both should get snaps, Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville has said he wants to name a starter at the position, a guy the team "could look up to" and "count on". Right now, that guy is Burns. Can the sophomore hold onto that spot? At this point, I'll say yes. Burns is obviously the more athletic of the two and poses the biggest threat to defenses with his ability to run the ball.

He showed glimpses of what he's capable of in the Chick-fil-A Bowl against Clemson. His downfall? Accuracy. Burns' TD toss to Mario Fannin was his only completion against Clemson. He'll have to improve on that if he wants to remain at the top. He's worked on his passing vigorously throughout the summer and should be improved in that area this fall. If so, Burns should lead this team as its starting QB.
