GoPowercat Q&A: Joshua Moore

If there were a list of people more excited for the rapidly approaching football season than Kansas State cornerback Joshua Moore, it wouldn't be a long one. After being forced out of action for an entire year due to a team-imposed suspension, the former Sporting News Freshman All-American is ready to pick up where he left off in 2006. Just days before the start of the 2008 season, the Florida native took time to sit down with for an excusive interview about his return to the field and a plethora of other topics.

After sitting out an entire year, how excited are you for this Saturday?
Real excited. I haven't played a game since the Texas Bowl. When I step out on that field this weekend, in front of all those fans, I'm going to be real excited.

Do remember what it's like to play in this stadium?
You know, I don' exactly remember what it's like, but I'll never forget the feeling of playing in front of 50,000 people. The fans are going to be why I'm so excited. When I'm back out there in front of those fans, everything will be good again.

K-State fans are expecting a lot out of you right away. Some are already calling you an All-Big 12 cornerback. Is that fair to you?
I know the fans are expecting a lot of me. I want them to expect a lot of me. I feel like that's going to help push myself. That can only help me progress my game. They want me to be that All-Big 12 corner, and I want to live up to it. I want to be the best corner in the Big 12. I'm willing to live up to it.

You went through a lot last year, with the suspension and the passing of your sister. How has all this adversity changed you?
You know, sometimes you just have to take the good with the bad. Sometimes bad things happen even to the best of people. Sometimes you need to take a bad situation and make something good out of it. I've started looking at it like that now. That's why I thank coach (Ron Prince) and his staff. They could have just tossed me to the side last year, but they kept me close to them. That's why I respect Coach Prince so much. He didn't just help me when I was up, he helped me while I was down.

You're a Florida guy. I want to take you back a to when you were in high school. Florida State was after you at the end but you chose K-State. Why?
When I came up here on my visit, I felt like I fit this program. I just felt like my heart is here at Kansas State. The people here are going to follow me all the time. Coming here was the best decision I ever made.
