Neuheisel discusses game

The Bruins were dealt their second straight defeat at the hands of Arizona. Though the offense failed to get any rhythm in the passing game and the special teams were suspect all day, UCLA was able to hang around to the fourth quarter before melting down and letting the game get away from them. UCLA head coach Rick Neuheisel met with the media after the game to answer questions.

Neuheisel: "Congratulations to Arizona and to Coach Mike Stoops they outplayed us and deserved to win. It was a tough day offensively."

"The defense tried valiantly to keep us in the game, but offensively we have not been able to gain any measure of consistency now for the last two games and obviously it is a major concern and one that we will have to continue to address as we try to get better and go forward.

"In talking to our team I just mentioned there is only one way to fix things that are broken and that's everyone pick up a shovel and star working to that end so we will go back to work as soon as tomorrow and get ready for Fresno State.

"There is not, I don't think a quick fix solution for this. It is really going to be about everybody getting focused and really getting involved with individual improvement that will then show collectively."

"I am optimistic, I'm always optimistic and I do believe there are brighter days ahead. I appreciate our fans for staying. It had to be hard to watch as we were trying to fight back into the game and yet very little in the way of booing.

"I think it showed a lot of class. Certainly I want them to know that the kids appreciate that, but we have a job to do and we're going to get started in earnest addressing all those things starting on Tuesday."
