Heastie returns from Chapel Hill
Chesapeake (Va.) Great Bridge wide receiver Logan Heastie knew people would ask about the status of his commitment to West Virginia when word came out that he was taking an unofficial visit to North Carolina.
While the 6-foot-2, 192-pound member of the Rivals250 enjoyed his time in Kenan Stadium watching the Tar Heels defeat nationally-ranked Boston College, he is adamant that he is firm in his commitment to West Virginia and does not plan on changing his mind.
"It was just an unofficial visit I guess and it went alright," Heastie said. "I just went up there with my dad and brother to watch a football game. It wasn't for recruiting or anything like that. We didn't tour the facilities or the school. We just watched the game and talked to the director of player personnel.
"We left after halftime. I'm still solid to West Virginia. I knew that people would think it's because I'm looking at other schools, but it's really just an hour and a half from my house and we wanted to watch a good game."
Heastie went on to say that West Virginia is the only school on his mind. He has been impressed with the Mountaineers' turnaround since a sluggish start to the season.
"I think I'm going to West Virginia again in two or three weeks," he said. "I watch them play as much as I can. I'm waiting for my season to be over before I really think a lot about college but I've been watching them.
"I was supposed to go to the Auburn game but I didn't make it out there. I think they're last in the Big East in passing but they're doing well. They just don't have the personnel to pass it that well now. Hopefully I can come in and help them change that."
