Bruins getting ready for USC
You can tell that is rivalry week. Even though UCLA has suffered their lumps this year and the only thing they are playing for now is pride the media trucks were out in force for yesterday's practice. UCLA head coach Rick Neuheisel was pleased with his team's effort. Neuheisel discussed the recent development that both teams will wear their home jerseys and more.
Neuheisel: "I thought it was a good spirited practice. There was some good collisions. Some good eagerness, indicative of the week, it's an important week for both programs and one that every player participates in this game looks forward to, so we are excited about the challenge and it is a formidable challenge, that goes without saying, but we're excited about having the chance to take the field and take our swings."
Rick it appears they have altered the jersey rule now with the timeouts, but when you first heard that Pete Carroll was willing to wear the cardinal and forfeit a timeout each half, what was your feeling?
Neuheisel: "As I said yesterday, he and I had agreed to this. I was excited about it because I think that's the way this game should be played. I think it was genius of him (Carroll) to figure out a way to say he was going to take time outs in both halves, but find a way not to (laughs). That was genius. It's a great thing. It is the way this game should be played.
"Two very proud programs playing in their home jerseys and the city of Los Angeles is getting to celebrate it."
