Seminole fans will be big, loud presence
Prediction: Florida State fans will converge on Orlando on Saturday, Dec. 27 to break the Champs Bowl attendance record and disprove the growing myth that the Seminoles don't travel well. Hell, more than half the people who come to Doak Campbell Stadium have to travel great distances every week just to fill Doak Campbell Stadium.
Yes, it is true that FSU did not sell out this year. And yes its true there were empty seats for every home game, including student tickets not sold for Florida, but it's very inaccurate to conclude the Seminoles don't travel well.
Some point to the Florida State-Colorado game as an example. But the fact is FSU accounted for more than 40,000 in sales -- even more than they sold the year before for the Alabama game -- when they outnumbered Alabama fans. The empty seats in Jacksonville were due to missing Colorado fans, not Seminoles. Colorado ordered only about 2,000 tickets for that game. If FSU had played any Southeastern team, the place would have been full.
