Florida WR hearing from Ole Miss

Ole Miss signed several wide receivers in its 2009 signing class, but with the loss of seniors-to-be Dexter McCluster and Shay Hodge, the Rebels will be in the market for a few more prospects at the position for 2010.

One prospect who is getting an early look and some attention from Ole Miss is Fort Lauderdale (Cardinal Gibbons HS), Fla. wide receiver Shawn Corker.

Corker, a 6-foot-1, 185 pound prospect has already picked up offers from Duke, Tulane, Central Florida, and Wake Forest and he said on Monday that he expects Texas Tech and Miami to soon offer.

Ole Miss also may not be far behind with an offer.

"I've been talking to a coach at Ole Miss and he says he wants to get my video in front of the offensive coordinator and some of the other coaches and see if Ole Miss wants to offer," Corker said. "I've been getting some letters from them and I think they're definitely interested in me."

Corker said he kept up with Ole Miss some last fall and would welcome an offer from the Rebels.

"I followed them some, obviously, their win over Florida caught my attention," he said.

It also didn't get past Corker that the Rebels knocked off No. 8 Texas Tech, another school the wide receiver prospect is giving a hard look.

"My coach went there, so he has some connections at Texas Tech," Corker said. "I think he knows Mike Leach and the offensive coordinator."

Corker plans to attend Junior Day at Central Florida this weekend and follow that with a trip to Texas Tech sometime in March.

Beyond that, Corker said he doesn't have any plans for additional junior days. He also said he hasn't set up his list of camps he'll participate in, although he said he would like to camp at Florida State as well as attend a Nike Combine.

Corker has an impressive 3.6 GPA and is an honors student. He hasn't taken the ACT yet.
