Signee Profile: Roller coaster recruitment

Early in the recruiting season, Travis seemed all about an Auburn lock. Instead he ended up being days away from signing with Southern Miss. spoke with Travis about his recruitment with Auburn, the former staff and the new staff, the roller coaster of feelings he had with the Tigers throughout the coaching changes, the departure of recruiter James Willis to Alabama and much more in the 10th profile story of the 2009 signees.

On his workout regime: "Me and my coaches run every day after school. I lift weights after school, too. Right now, we're doing the sprints that are in the package Auburn sent."

When do you plan to move to Auburn? "I'm supposed to report the 21st of June, but I'll probably move it up a little earlier than that. I'm excited and I want to go ahead and get situation, get used to everything, so I may just come up earlier."

You say you're at 310 now, is that where you want to be when you report to Auburn? "I think so. I feel good at my weight. I've learned to work with it."

You committed to Southern Miss, then switched late to Auburn. Talk about the last week leading up until Signing Day... "That last week was hectic. It topped out when Auburn gave me an offer, but Southern Miss wouldn't give up without a fight. Every three hours, one of the coaches from Southern Miss was calling me. Auburn was calling, too, but Southern Miss was just every three hours. Signing Day was even worse. The phone never stopped ringing."
