Watson looking for offers
The Oregon Ducks continue to pursue good recruits that fit into their program, and Greg Watson is no exception. Despite a written offer, he might not have acted quick enough to keep it.
Watson has learned a lot about the pluses and minuses of big time college football. “Coach Osborne gave me a written offer back in February or March. He never did discuss the Oregon depth chart with me. I didn’t verbally commit at that time. After that, they rescinded it because they only had one DB slot, which they gave to another recruit. When I went up to see the Oregon campus, they told me about the situation. I understand that this is a business. I understand what went down, but if Oregon offered me, I would accept. I still keep their written offer pinned to my bedroom wall,” Watson pointed out.
The outstanding QB-CB went on to tell us how he feels about the Oregon program. “I love the Oregon program. I’m real good friends with Patrick Chung’s little sister. I talk to Patrick quite a bit before he was drafted into the NFL. The players all like the Oregon coaches. I am close to Eugene, living in the Southern California area. My mom and dad have a big say in where I go to school. They have a 50-50 say in what college I go to. They put the football in my hand and I ran with it. The Oregon facilities are top notch. The weight room was amazing, and the trainer was there while I there,” Watson said.
When asked where he might go other than Oregon, he responded, “I get letters from schools such as Colorado, Nebraska, Colorado State and UTEP, but I’ve got no other offers. I haven’t even talked to any other coaches except for the UTEP coach who is recruiting me for DB. I hope to get more offers soon.”
